BASF helps growers protect corn yields with a pre-emerge herbicide application this spring
MISSISSAUGA, ON, April 17, 2014 – Spring has finally arrived and starting the planting season with clean fields is the best way to protect yields and keep weeds from developing throughout the season.
When applied pre-plant or pre-emergence, INTEGRITY® herbicide will help ensure corn is planted into clean fields. Multiple and unique modes of action in INTEGRITY provide excellent control of key grasses and broadleaf weeds and help control resistant biotypes.
“Weeds can have a significant effect on a corn crop early in the season so it’s critical to keep corn fields clean,” said Rob Miller, Technical Development Manager for Eastern Canada at BASF. “Applying a pre-plant or pre-emerge will help growers maximize their yields at harvest time.”
INTEGRITY includes the active ingredient KIXOR®, part of a new innovative class of chemistry that has unique compound mobility, allowing it to control large, tough-to-kill broadleaf weeds like velvetleaf, yellow nutsedge and eastern black nightshade. The unique mode of action also provides control of glyphosate-resistant weeds.
“The longer corn fields remain weed-free the higher the yield potential,” added Miller. “An application of INTEGRITY is an excellent decision growers should make this season.”
